As you may recall from your time here, one of the highlights of the school year is the Lent Choral and Symphonic Concert at Brentwood Cathedral, which takes place on Thursday 21st March. I am delighted that, this year, Brentwood Choral Society will be performing Benjamin Britten’s monumentous cantata Saint Nicholas, and write to invite you all to take part in tackling this work alongside musicians and singers from across the school and the local community.
There is no audition process, and no pre-existing note-reading or singing ability is required; if you have always wondered what being part of a Brentwood School concert would be like (or want to take part in another one), enjoy performing, or want the opportunity to sing alongside your teachers, then we would love to have you!
Rehearsals for the ‘adult’ choir- which also includes staff and singers from the local community - will take place on the first three Saturdays in March in the music studio in Huddleston at the school; if you are interested, please register using the button below. Please note that you are asked to attend at least two out of the three weekend rehearsal dates as well as the rehearsal on the day of the concert. Pupils are not required to attend the 2nd or the 9th, but will join for the 16th:
Saturday 2nd March 10:30am - 14.30pm
Saturday 9th March 10:30am - 14.30pm
Saturday 16th March 10:30am - 14.30pm with school choirs
Thursday 21st March 4pm - Rehearsal in Brentwood Cathedral for concert at 7pm.
This is such an incredible piece of music and I know that you will enjoy being part of the team! Many thanks in advance for your support, and I look forward to meeting many of you in March.
Kind regards,
Chris O'Leary
Assistant Director of Music, Brentwood School
