Officers of the Society

I am extremely honoured to be conferred as President for this year.  Looking at the names of those who have preceded me makes this honour even more special.  On behalf of all Old Brentwoods, I would like to thank my predecessor, Jos Hollington for his successful year in office - he has certainly set an extremely high bar to follow!

After leaving school, my association with the Old Brentwoods started when I joined the Old Brentwoods Masonic Lodge, the values of which align with the School values of Virtue, Learning and Manners and this has shaped my interest and engagement with Charitable activities.  18 years ago, a young Tim Faiers twisted my arm over a glass of wine to join the General Committee of the Society of Old Brentwoods. The Society has been through many changes; however, nothing as big as the current restructuring project, which I am proud to have been involved with, as the future looks bright for both the Society and the Clubhouse.

Some say I have never left school, having worked there for 19 years. This may be the case, but why leave a job where you feel as though you are making a positive impact and working in a friendly and challenging environment.  As one of 22 Old Brentwoods working at the School, I can truly say that the school continues to provide positive experiences both in and beyond the classroom.  Particularly in the CCF, which is still one of the largest in the country.  I became Contingent Commander in January 2025, and 2026 marks the 165th Anniversary of the School’s CCF.

I am proud to continue with the work that Jos has done by creating a ‘President’s Bursary’ and also to ensure he could meet as many people as he could in his year by launching regional drinks, something I am looking forward to continuing in conjunction with Sam Mason, Director of Development at the school.

I am looking forward to my year in office and look forward to meeting as many OBs as possible, and I am particularly keen to increase the engagement of our younger OBs.
