Over the years there have been many productions on the Outdoor Stage, but there is a long running mystery still to be solved. Can you help?
One of the stone spheres - back left on the photo - is missing and has been for many years. Presumably there used to be a full compliment; one on each corner of the stage.
Do you know what happened to the missing sphere? Were you at school when it disappeared? Were you responsible for its disappearance?!
There is a tale, once told, that it was dislodged by some students back in the 1950s and rolled into Roden Pond .... but surely it would have been retrieved and replaced or be have been visible for some time after?
We would love to know for certain what happened - if you know, or have any other theories, please let us know in the comments.
