OBs were out in force (pun intended!) at the annual CCF Headteachers' Conference held in Coventry on 27th February.

Commodore Jonathan Fry, RN (OB 1974-1979) gave the welcome speech and also responded with 'The MOD Perspective' to the keynote address, ‘The value of the CCF to both education and wider society', given by The Right Honourable Gavin Williamson MP, Secretary of State for Education. Jonathan is currently Head of Youth and Cadets at The Ministry of Defence.

Professor Simon Denny (OB 1970-1976) gave one of the day's central presentations entitled 'Impact of the Cadet Experience on Social Mobility'. His research confirms that CCF can have a positive and measurable impact on the cadets. Simon is a former Captain in the British Army and retired Director of Development and Social Impact at Nottingham University.

Current 2 i/c Contingent and RAF Section Commander of the School's CCF, Sarb Singh (OB 1990-2001) commented that it was great to hear how the cadet force movement is being supported by both the Ministry of Defence and the Department for Education. Jade Haron, who took over as the CCF Contingent Commander in September 2019, also represented the School at the Conference.
